Alexander Pope once wrote, “The wasting moth ne’er spoiled my best array; cause was this, I wore it every day.” When I perused a closet in my parents’ house this weekend, I wished that I had heeded those wise words.
Many years ago, I received this lovely scarf as a gift. Extremely warm and my favorite colors, it made it through many ski trips, snow angels and if I recall correctly, some pretty serious snowball fights. Unfortunately, over a few years of being lost in the back of one of the family’s closets, it became moth bounty. We’re considering it a living sacrifice for the many wool coats, sweaters and hats that are thankfully still unscathed and will remain so with the addition of a few mothballs.
